Year 10 Leadership Award Level One - 2009/20010: Unit 7 - Demonstration of leadership skills in sport

Task:-

1. Organise a number of sports sessions, ideally in two different sporting or recreational activities for your peer group or lower age group children.


2. Complete a minimum of three hours of leadership experience using the skills and experience gained from Units 1-6 whilst under direct supervision.


3. Record each of the session that you lead and place them into this blog.

1. List places within the local area where it is possible to take part in sport or physical activity.

2. Describe courses which can complement or follow on from this award.

3. Identify establishments within the local area which deliver these courses.

1. What skills, knowledge and understanding are needed by a sports official?

Year 10 Leadership Award Level One - 2009/20010: Unit 4 - Understanding Fair Play in Sport

1. What do you understand by the term 'Fair Play'?

2. What do you do during a session to make sure games are played in the right way?

3. How do you make sure everyone is treated with respect?

4. How did you deal with disruptive behaviour or pupils lacking respect for others?

5. How did you feel when dealing with problem behaviour?

6. Did it make a difference to how the rest of the session worked?

Year 10 Leadership Award Level One - 2009/2010: Unit 3 - Principles and practice in delivering a basic health and fitness session

It is important that you understand the advantages of why people will take part in regular activity on a regular basis.

1. Why do you think people will take part in regular sporting activity?

2. What are the current issues in society regarding a lack of physical activity?

3. Why is having a healthy life-style important?

4. What are the long-term disadvantages of smoking, drinking and having a high-fat diet?

5. What can you do as a young sports leader to help solve this problem?

6. What more could the school do to promote a 'Health for Self' drive?

Year 10 Leadership Award Level One - 2009/20010: Unit 2 - Basic communication skills for leading a sporting activity

To make a session work, you have had to rely on communicating effectively with other people.

1. What did you do to make sure everyone understood why they were doing a task?

2. What did you do to control the group during your session?

3. How did you feel when you were giving teaching points to the group?

4. What is the main thing you learnt when trying to communicate with other people?

Year 10 Leadership Award Level One - 2009/2010: Unit 1 - Planning, preparing and assisting a simple sporting activity

1. What did you do to make sure that you planned and structured the lesson in the right way?
